About Sal Skog
Celebrate Trans is a multimedia arts project created by award-winning photojournalist Sal Skog, designed to support the LGBTQ community and educate others about what it means to be transgender.
The inspiration for Sal’s project began when her second-grade daughter told her that she wanted to marry a girl. Since then, Sal has immersed herself in learning about LGBTQ issues through books, documentaries, news articles and personal stories. She passionately supports people who are transgender; they are remarkable people who’ve gone on extraordinary journeys simply to be themselves. Sal has photographed and interviewed more than one hundred people who are transgender. If you are trans and would like to participate, she would be honored to hear from you.
Sal has more than twenty-five years of experience as a professional photographer, with a degree in photojournalism from the University of Minnesota. Her work has appeared in magazines such as Mpls. St. Paul, Entrepreneur, Time, Sports Illustrated, and others, as well as in newspapers in Minnesota, Washington and Montana. Some of her corporate clients included The St. Paul Companies, Northwest Airlines, Medtronic and Ecolab.
